The George Havorka Scholarship is dedicated to supporting current or prospective college students whose parent or legal guardian is an active or retired #ACSO employee. We are proud of these students’ achievements and wish them continued academic success when they resume their studies. Applications will be accepted beginning January 1, 2027


Eligibility

  1. One or more of the applicant's parents (or legal guardian) is an active or retired employee in good standing of the Adams County Sheriff's Office.
  2. The student must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning, accredited technical college, or other education-related endeavor deemed appropriate by the administrators. In the case of high school seniors; the student must be accepted at such an institution for the next academic year. Graduating high school seniors must attach a letter of acceptance to their application.
  3. Awards will be granted as a one-time award per child. Child is defined as someone who is 22 years of age or younger.

Criteria for Selection

  1. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement, leadership and responsibility to school, community and family.
  2. An original essay (up to 500 words).
  3. An undergraduate or technology degree, or a certified technology certificate only (graduate programs are not eligible).
  4. Financial need is not a factor in the selection.
