The George Havorka Scholarship is dedicated to supporting current or prospective college students whose parent or legal guardian is an active or retired #ACSO employee. We are proud of these students’ achievements and wish them continued academic success when they resume their studies. Applications will be accepted beginning January 1, 2027
Eligibility
- One or more of the applicant's parents (or legal guardian) is an active or retired employee in good standing of the Adams County Sheriff's Office.
- The student must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning, accredited technical college, or other education-related endeavor deemed appropriate by the administrators. In the case of high school seniors; the student must be accepted at such an institution for the next academic year. Graduating high school seniors must attach a letter of acceptance to their application.
- Awards will be granted as a one-time award per child. Child is defined as someone who is 22 years of age or younger.
Criteria for Selection
- Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement, leadership and responsibility to school, community and family.
- An original essay (up to 500 words).
- An undergraduate or technology degree, or a certified technology certificate only (graduate programs are not eligible).
- Financial need is not a factor in the selection.
