The Sheriff's Office Employee's Orphan's Fund was founded in 1991 by the Adams County Sheriff's Office with a mission to provide financial assistance to the dependents of employees who have tragically passed while serving or in retirement. From its inception, the Fund aimed to support the educational pursuits of these families by offering scholarships and financial aid for higher education. Shortly after its creation, the Fund achieved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, solidifying its ability to operate as a nonprofit organization. Since then, the Fund has been dedicated to awarding annual scholarships to the children of Sheriff's Office employees, ensuring that they have the resources needed to achieve educational success. The Fund is supported through the generous donations of individuals and businesses, which help maintain its mission of empowering the next generation of students through education and opportunity while preserving the professional reputation of law enforcement.
